Jazz Up Your Cubicle with these Design Tips
Everyone needs something to make their office cubicle less “blah.” Those white walls and unforgiving metal desks don’t do much to spark some inspiration. Luckily, there are many ways you can jazz up your cubicle to give it new life and a less dreary look.
Careful Placement
You don’t necessarily have to get rid of your boring walls and floors, but you can certainly hide them to make your space more appealing. Customization is as easy as buying a nice area rug or installing some removable flooring. There are also cheap temporary wallpapers you can buy on Amazon, Etsy or various craft stores. You’ll soon have the best looking cubicle in the office. You may never want to leave!
Mood Lighting
There’s not a single person on Earth who actually likes fluorescent lights. They hurt the eyes in more ways than one, but there’s a little secret to keeping those obnoxious bulbs at bay. Colorful desk lamps or string lights can add a lot of character. If you’re feeling really ambitious, consider a sun lamp to boost your mood and productivity. It may not be the actual sun, but it’s a heck of a lot better than bland fluorescent bulbs.
Get Comfy
No one’s going to force you to use the office chair with the broken springs. If you have an ergonomic chair at home, or if you’re in the market for one, bring one in to work and use that instead. Bring as many comforts from home as your office will allow you to. Empty shelves reserved for manilla folders will soon fill up with knick knacks, coffee mugs and chocolate stashes. As long as it doesn’t hurt your productivity, by all means, go for it.
Show Off Your Personality
Do you have an undying love of dogs or ridiculous hats? Don’t hesitate to bring memorabilia in too. Your collection of hacky-sacks could just be the personality your office cubicle was looking for. It’s always fun to show off your interests, and this is a great way to do it. It may even improve your relationship with your coworkers as they grow increasingly curious about what you’ve got in your cubicle. Plants safe for office spaces can even provide you with cleaner air as you type away in the normally stale atmosphere of the corporate grind.

There are plenty of ways to enliven your cubicle space, and we’ve listed only a few here. You can easily browse sites like Pinterest for more ideas on how to outfit your cubicle. The important thing is that you’re happy whiling away the hours at your desk amongst your various accessories. A happy worker is a productive worker!
